Williams' Goldenring Leads the Field; Trinity Three Shots Off the Lead at NCAAs

NICHOLASVILLE, K.Y.– Sam Goldenring of Williams leads the field after the first round of the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Trinity Bantams stand three shots off the lead in the team competition.


Goldenring shot a three-under 69 and leads the field by one stroke as four golfers are tied for second after shooting rounds of 70. Goldenring hads a bogey-free round and carded three birdies over his first 18 holes at the championship.

Trinity's Will Rosenfield and Nich Branchina are tied for sixth and led the Bantams with identical scores of 71. Rosenfield recorded four birdies, three on the front nine, to help the Bantams place third on the team leaderboard. Richardo Paes Leme shot a one-over 73 and Taylor Kay-Green added a 75. Jack Junge rounded out the Bantams team with a score of 80.

The Trinity team will tee off from the 10th hole at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday and play with Otterbein and Southwest University. Goldenring will tee off at 1:40 p.m. and start on the 10th tee.
