2001 Cross Country All-Conference Teams Announced
Hanson of Hamilton, Bak of Trinity Named Most Outstanding Performers
HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Maggie Hanson of Hamilton and junior Ryan Bak of Trinity earned medalist and NESCAC Women’s and Men’s Most Outstanding Performer honors, respectively, at the 2001 NESCAC Cross Country Championships held at Bowdoin College.
Two runners each from NESCAC women’s champion Middlebury and runner-up Williams earned first-team honors. Junior Michela Adrian and freshman Jess Manzer each received first-team accolades in leading the Panthers to their fourth consecutive team title. Junior Julia Bensen and freshman Jenn Campbell of the Ephs finished 2-3 in the race to receive first-team recognition. Campbell was also named 2001 NESCAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year.
Rounding out the women’s first team were senior Maura Danahy of Connecticut College and repeat first-team honoree Jenn Cammarano of Hamilton.
Stephen Allison of Bowdoin, the 2000 men’s Most Outstanding Performer, finished second to earn first-team honors again this year. He and junior teammate Todd Forsgren received first-team recognition in leading the Polar Bears to their second team title and first since 1991.
Senior Aristides Cruz earned first-team honors to pace Tufts to a runner-up team finish. Junior Jim Emord finished third overall to receive first-team accolades for third-place Trinity.
Rounding out the first team were juniors Justin Easter of Bates and Neal Hannan of Williams. Nathan Brigham of Tufts was named the 2001 Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year and earned second-team all-conference honors.
Middlebury head coach Terry Aldrich was named NESCAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. Bowdoin head coach Peter Slovenski was named NESCAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
