2003 Volleyball Players of the Week
November 10, 2003
Annie Denison, Williams
(Sophomore, Outside Hitter - Portland, Ore.)
Denison hit .443 and averaged 5.0 kills/game to lead Williams to a
third consecutive NESCAC Championship. She had 24 digs and 5
service aces in the tournament and had 17 kills and 14 digs in the
final match with Bates.

Cait Cleaver, Colby
(Sophomore, Outside Hitter - Kennett Square, Pa.)
Colby’s Cait Cleaver averaged 4.2 kills and 3.1 digs per game
in the Mules’ 3-0 week. Cleaver had 17 kills, 15 digs, five
service aces and four blocks in Colby’s league win over
Tufts. She also had 18 kills and seven digs in a victory over
Amherst. Cleaver is averaging 4.3 kills per game in NESCAC
conference matches this season. Cleaver also went over 700 career
kills this past week and now has 737 in just two seasons.

Joyia Chadwick, Williams
(Junior, Middle Blocker - Lawrence, Kan.)
Chadwick led Williams to a 4-1 week with 73 kills (4.1 per game), a
.354 hitting percentage, and 29 blocks (1.6 per game) in 18 games
for the Ephs. She had 20 solo blocks for the week and she had 17
kills and 8 total blocks in the Hall of Fame championship match, a
1-3 loss to Springfield.

Liz Wanless, Bates
(Senior, Outside Hitter - Belleville, Ill.)
Wanless averaged 4.25 kills per game and 3.75 digs per game in the
Bobcats two NESCAC wins over Maine rivals Colby and Bowdoin. In a
five-game win over Colby, she posted a season-high 25 kills and 23
digs helping Bates come back from a 2-0 deficit against the Mules
for the second time this season.
October 13, 2003
Robin Young, Williams
(Junior, Outside Hitter - Andover, Mass.)
Junior outside hitter Robin Young posted 51 kills (3.9 per game)
with 58 digs (4.5 per game) while hitting .357 with 10 service aces
and five blocks to lead Williams to a 4-0 week. The Ephs handed two
NESCAC squads their first conference losses including a 3-0 defeat
of Colby led by Young’s 17 kills and 16 digs.

Liz Wanless, Bates
(Senior, Outside Hitter - Belleville, Ill.)
Wanless was an All-Tournament selection at the Bates Invitational
over the weekend and helped lead Bates to their fifth consecutive
Colby-Bates-Bowdoin title on Wednesday. Wanless posted 18 kills in
the three-game win to lead the Bobcats over Bowdoin to clinch the
CBB title. She then added 43 kills in three matches, averaging 4.30
per game, with a .303 hitting percentage to lead Bates to a 2-1
record at their home invitational. On the week, the senior averaged
4.69 kills per game with a .319 hitting percentage.

Robin Young, Williams
(Junior, Outside Hitter - Andover, Mass.)
Young had an outstanding weekend for the Ephs with 92 digs
(5.75/g), 57 kills, and 7 service aces to lead Williams to a second
place finish at the MIT Invitational. She had 33 digs and 18 kills
in the semi-final win over Springfield in a matchup of the #1 and
#2 teams in New England and she had 19 kills and 28 digs in the
championship match (a 2-3 loss to Eastern Univ./PA) as the Ephs
went 3-1 at the tournament.

Jessica Schlobohm, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Outside Hitter - Santa Barbara, Calif.)
Schlobohm had a stellar week for Bowdoin, as the outside hitter
averaged 5.4 kills per game (71 total) and 3.0 digs per game in a
3-1 week for the Polar Bears. The sophomore had 19 kills in a 3-0
defeat of Connecticut College and added 24 kills in a 1-3 loss to
Wesleyan. Her team-leading 138 kills this season have lifted
Bowdoin to a 6-2 mark to start the year.

Kimberly Prescott, Colby
(Senior, Setter - Buena Park, Calif.)
Colby setter Kimberly Prescott was named to the all-tournament team
in leading the Mules to a 4-0 record in the Colby Invitational and
a 6-0 record this past week. Prescott had 192 assists and averaged
10.67 per game. She also had 29 serving aces in the matches and is
averaging 1.61 aces per game. Prescott, a 5-foot-7 setter, also had
22 kills during the week and had a .733 hitting percentage.
