2003 Women's Soccer Players of the Week
November 10, 2003
Ashley Harmeling, Amherst
(Junior, Forward - N. Reading, Mass.)
Harmeling scored Amherst's lone goal in Saturday's 1-1 tie with
Williams in the NESCAC semifinals, which the Jeffs won in penalty
kicks, and shattered the Amherst record for goals in a season with
her 16th, 17th and 18th scoring strikes in Sunday's NESCAC
Championship win over Bates. Her three goals in the contest set a
NESCAC Championship tournament record for most goals in a game and
most goals in the tournament (4) and assured the Jeffs a spot in
the upcoming NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Kim Alexander, Bates
(Freshman, Forward - Cumberland, Maine)
Freshman forward Kim Alexander scored three goals for Bates last
week, including both goals in a 2-0 win over Trinity in a first
round NESCAC Championship game on Sunday. She started the week with
an insurance goal with seven minutes to play in a 2-0 win over St.
Joseph's on Tuesday.

Brenna Shields, Trinity
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Cutchohue, N.Y.)
Shields allowed just one goal over 180 minutes, leading Trinity to
wins at Eastern Connecticut and Wesleyan. She had six saves against
Wesleyan to earn her second shutout of the season, and two saves at
Eastern Connecticut.
Meg McCourt,
Tufts
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Rochester, N.Y.)
Tufts beat two New England ranked teams, with McCourt allowing just
one goal. Tuesday's 3-0 win over #7 Keene State was McCourt's third
shutout of the season. She had six saves in the game, including
four in the second half. In Saturday's must-win conference game
against Middlebury, McCourt had four saves and held the
NESCAC’s top scoring offense to just one goal. For the week,
she was 2-0 with a .50 goals against average and .909 save
percentage.

Tracy Montigny, Amherst
(Junior, Forward - East Granby, Conn.)
Amherst junior Tracy Montigny scored the game-winner in Thursday's
1-0 win at Mt. Holyoke, and added two goals and an assist in
Saturday's lopsided 6-0 win over visiting Little Three and NESCAC
rival Wesleyan.

Jen Baldwin, Tufts
(Junior, Forward - Medway, Mass.)
Baldwin scored three goals and set up another for seven points in
two matches this week. She had two goals and an assist on Wednesday
when Tufts handed 13th-ranked Brandeis its first loss of the
season, 5-2. The five goals were as many as the Judges had allowed
in their previous nine games this season. On Saturday, Baldwin
scored in the 38th minute to tie the game against Trinity in a 2-1
loss.

Cedar Goldman, Bowdoin
(Junior, Midfielder - Newton, Mass.)
Bowdoin junior midfielder Cedar Goldman led the Polar Bears on both
ends of the field in a key 1-0 win over Tufts on Saturday. Goldman
scored the only goal of the game and also anchored a Bowdoin
defense that tallied their fifth shutout of the year- Bowdoin has
allowed only five goals this season, best in the NESCAC.
September 29, 2003
Brittany Cronin, Middlebury
(Junior, Forward/Midfielder - Aurora, Colo.)
Cronin enjoyed a huge week for Middlebury as she scored five goals
and dished out an assist as the Panthers went 3-0 with two NESCAC
wins. The week began with two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over
nationally ranked Keene State. Over the NESCAC weekend, Cronin
netted a pair along with an assist in Middlebury's 4-2 win over
Colby. She followed that up with the game-winner in overtime as the
Panthers topped nationally ranked Bowdoin, 1-0.
September 22, 2003
Kate Salottolo, Trinity
(Senior, Midfielder - Bethel, Conn.)
Salottolo scored four goals in three games, including two in a 3-2
win at Coast Guard, the game-tying goal in a 2-1 win at Colby, and
Trinity's only goal in a loss at Bates.

Elizabeth Riley, Colby
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Saco, Maine)
Colby's Elizabeth Riley stopped 22 shots to help the Mules preserve
a 0-0 tie with Bates on Saturday. Bates had a 30-8 advantage in
shots.
