NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Connecticut College head women’s lacrosse coach Heather McClelland is stepping down after six seasons with the program.

McClelland will relinquish her duties as lacrosse coach July 1. The college will conduct a national search for her replacement.

Fran Shields, the Katherine Wenk Christoffers '45 Director of Athletics and chair of physical education at Connecticut College, commended McClelland for her contributions to the athletic program.

"We want to thank Heather for her dedication and commitment to our student-athletes," Shields said. "Her efforts extend far beyond the work she has done with her team. As an administrator, she managed our student payroll, supervised the day-to-day operations in our facilities to ensure the safety of our student-athletes and lent a helping hand to any other area of our operation that needed her assistance. Her can-do attitude has been an inspiration to everyone."

This season, four of McClelland's student-athletes were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region Team.
