2001-02 Women's Ice Hockey Players of the Week
March 4, 2002
Gillian McDonald, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Forward - Hudson, Quebec)
McDonald scored four goals in two games to lead Bowdoin to the
first NECSAC women's hockey title. She scored a natural hat trick
in the first period to lead the Polar Bears to a 5-1 win over Colby
in the semifinals. McDonald scored the first goal in the 2-1
championship game win over Williams.

Kirsti Anderson, Bowdoin
(Freshman, Defenseman - Glenville, N.Y.)
Anderson scored two goals in a 4-0 NESCAC first round win over
Amherst. She scored one goal in a 2-2 tie with Colby in the regular
season finale for each team.

Lorna Gifis, Middlebury
(Freshman, Forward - Princeton, N.J.)
Gifis scored the game-winning goal as Middlebury edged Bowdoin 2-1
in overtime to clinch the top seed for the NESCAC tournament. She
scored two goals and added two assists in an 8-0 win over Colby.

Mimi MacKinnon, Trinity
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Glen Cove, N.Y.)
MacKinnon made 40 saves in a 3-2 loss to top-ranked Middlebury and
made 44 saves in 3-2 win over ninth-ranked Williams. She finished
the week with a save percentage of 93.3.

Liz Courtney, Wesleyan
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Belmont, Mass.)
Courtney posted her first career shutout with 24 saves in a 4-0
Wesleyan win over Hamilton. She made 16 saves in a 1-1 tie with
Amherst, finishing the week with a 0.48 goals against average and
97.6 save percentage.

Molly Wasserman, Williams
(Sophomore, Forward - Minnetonka, Minn.)
Wasserman scored eight goals and added two assists in three games
for Williams. She recorded back-to-back hat tricks in back-to-back
5-0 wins at Connecticut College. She scored two goals and assisted
on another goal in a 4-4 tie with RPI.
January 21, 2002
Amber Neil, Middlebury
(Junior, Forward - Port Crane, N.Y.)
Neil scored five goals and assisted on two others as Middlebury
remained undefeated with three road wins. She scored two goals and
assisted on two others in an 8-0 win over Williams. She scored two
goals in a 4-0 victory over Amherst, and added a goal in a 4-1 win
over Hamilton.

Paula Dady, Hamilton
(Junior, Forward - Wallingford, Conn.)
Dady led the Continentals to two wins over the weekend with six
points. She scored three goals and added an assist in a win over
New England College, and recorded two assists in a 5-4 win at
Amherst.
January 7, 2002
Kristi Anderson, Bowdoin
(Freshman, Defenseman - Glenville, N.Y.)
Anderson scored one goal and added two assists, and led the defense
as the Polar Bears recorded three consecutive road wins. Bowdoin
completed the road trip with a 4-3 win over fourth-ranked Gustavus
Adolphus.
Heather DeVito,
Colby
(Freshman, Forward - Arlington, Mass.)
DeVito scored three goals and added four assists in two conference
wins over Connecticut College.
December 10, 2001
Amber Neil, Middlebury
(Junior, Forward - Port Crane, N.Y.)
Neil scored one goal and assisted on another as top-ranked
Middlebury defeated host and second-ranked Bowdoin 3-2. She scored
one goal and assisted on another in a 3-1 win at previously
undefeated Colby the next day. Middlebury extended its unbeaten
Division III streak to 131 games (130-0-1).
December 3, 2001
Mimi MacKinnon, Trinity
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Glen Cove, N.Y.)
MacKinnon made 85 saves and yielded just three goals as Trinity
split two games. MacKinnon made 62 saves in a 4-1 win over
Connecticut College, the first win of the year for the Bantams, who
broke an 18-game winless streak and gave head coach Kate Busniuk
her first career victory.

(Sophomore, Forward - Minnetonka, Minn.)
Wasserman played a part in five of the six Williams goals in two
shutout wins. She scored four goals and added an assist as the Ephs
defeated Vermont 2-0 and Sacred Heart 4-0.

Erin Neil, Middlebury
(Junior, Forward - Port Crane, N.Y.)
Neil tallied seven points in two Middlebury wins. She scored one
goal and added three assists in a 6-0 victory over Trinity. She
scored once and assisted on two other goals in a 7-0 victory over
Wesleyan.

Shelly Chessie, Bowdoin
(Junior, Forward - Fredericton, New Brunswick)
Chessie scored three goals and added five assists in two conference
wins on the road. She scored two goals in a 7-0 win over Trinity,
and led the Polar Bears with three assists in a 7-1 victory over
Wesleyan.
