Hamilton Men Place 11th, Tufts Women Finish 17th at NCAA Track & Field Championships

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Hamilton College was the top NESCAC team on the men's side, placing in a two-way tie for 11th with 20 points, while Tufts was the top women's team with 17 points to finish 17th at the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oskosh.
Following Hamilton on the men's side was Williams, as the 2008 NESCAC Men's Track & Field Champions finished in a three-way tie for 13th with 19 points. Tufts placed in a six-way tie for 45th (6), while Bates tied for 59th (4).
On the women's side, Colby finished tied for 23rd (12), followed by Middlebury and Amherst in 38th (7) and Bates and Williams tied for 67th (3).
Behind junior Hanneus Ollison’s 18 individual points and 14 relay points, the McMurry University (Texas) men’s track & field team captured its first outdoor national championship Saturday at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wis. McMurry finished with 35 team points.
Hamilton sophomore Peter Kosgei won two events during the championships. Kosgei took the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:55.19) on Friday and 5,000-meter run (14:32.57) to earn the NCAA Division III Male Track Athlete of the Meet honors.
Earning their first title at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in school history, Illinois Wesleyan University and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls tied for the national crown Saturday The Titans and Falcons both finished with 35 points.
UW-River Falls freshman Becca Jordahl won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:52.49 while Tufts University senior Catherine Beck was second (16:54.54) and Keene State College senior Jennifer Adams finished third (16:54.79). Beck (sixth) and Adams (third) both earned All-America honors last season.
