2005 NESCAC Track & Field All-Conference Team Announced
Middlebury's Bright, Bates' Godsey Named as Most Outstanding Performers

HADLEY, Mass. - Following the 2005 NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the league has announced the 2005 all-conference team. The top three finishers in each event at the Conference Championships receive all-conference recognition.
In a vote by the league coaches, Kelly Godsey of Bates was honored with the Sabasteanski Award as the Most Outstanding Female Performer. Godsey set a NESCAC meet record winning the hammer with a throw of 59.50 meters. The junior also won the shot put and placed fifth in the javelin. Middlebury junior Kevin Bright was named the Sabasteanski Award as the Most Outstanding Male Performer after winning the 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles. Bright was also a member of the Panthers’ championship meet record setting 4x400 meter relay team, and helped the Middlebury 4x100 meter relay to a second place finish.
Middlebury’s Patrick Swan was recognized as the male Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after placing second in the 400-meter dash and running as a member of the 4x400 meter record breaking relay and 4x100 meter relay with teammate Bright. Trinity’s Amanda White received the female Most Outstanding Rookie Performer honors winning the 100-meter hurdles and placing third in the high jump. Middlebury coach Martin Beatty was honored as the Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to a third place finish, their highest since 2001. Colby women’s head coach Deb Aitken was selected as the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.
