NESCAC Track & Field All-Conference Team Announced
Devine of Tufts, Williams Tandem of Doody and Rearick Named Outstanding Performers

HARTFORD, CONN. – Williams captured the men’s and women’s team titles at the 2002 NESCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Bates College this past weekend. The championship was the Ephs’ 12th in the men’s competition, including 10th in the past 11 years. The women’s title was the 10th for Williams, its seventh in the last nine years.
Junior Greg Devine of Tufts was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the men’s championship, while junior Colleen Doody and senior Janna Rearick of Williams shared the Most Outstanding Performer honor in the women’s championship. Devine won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.91 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 53.99 seconds. Doody won the 200- and 400-meter dashes in 25.91 and 57.08 seconds, respectively. Rearick captured the 800-meter run in a NESCAC record time of 2:12.86 and joined Doody as members of the Ephs’ victorious 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay teams. The previous record in the 800 meters was 2:14.31, set by Caitlin Murphy of Tufts in 1998.
Each student-athlete who finished in the top three of any individual event or was on a relay team that finished in the top three earned all-conference recognition.
