2011-12 Swimming & Diving Performers of the Week

Sam Gill, Connecticut College
(Sophomore - Glenwood, Ill.)
Gill was the winner in three individual events during the Camels’ meet with Bates on Saturday. Gill posted a time of 47.6 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, 23.4 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly, and set the pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.91 seconds.
   

Hannah Will, Tufts
(Senior - Mount Vernon, N.H.)
Will swam to three personal-best performances during the Jumbos’ participation at the Wheaton Invitational. She posted times of 32.47 in the 50-yard breaststroke, 1:10.47 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and 2:30.70 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Nathan Mecray, Bowdoin
(Senior - Cumberland, Maine)
Mecray won the 100-yard breaststroke during a meet with Trinity and Wesleyan in a pool-record time of 58.66 seconds. He also posted a victory in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the race in 47.59 seconds. In addition, Mecray anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay with a split of 21.55.
   
Mia Greenwald, Tufts
(Sophomore - Park City, Utah)
Greenwald earned victories in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly events, posting times of 26.91 and 59.80 seconds, respectively, and was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay during a tri-meet with Wheaton and WPI on Saturday. Greenwald finished the dual meet season by winning at least one butterfly race at every meet.

Tom Boniface, Bates
(Senior - Youngstown, Ohio)
Boniface won two events against Colby on Saturday, taking the 100-yard freestyle in 48.9 seconds and also claiming the 100-yard butterfly in 53.8 seconds. A day earlier, Boniface posted his best time of the season in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:46.0 performance.
   
Julia Pielock, Connecticut College
(Sophomore - Deerfield, Mass.)
Pielock swam her way to three victories in freestyle events against Wesleyan and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay. Pielock won the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle races, posting a personal-best time of 1:57.1 in the 200.

Owen Rood, Tufts
(Senior - Branford, Conn.)
Rood posted wins in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and was also part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team during a tri-meet with Wesleyan and Williams on Saturday. He posted times of 21.54 and 47.38 seconds in the 50 and 100. Rood also anchored the Jumbos’ second-place showing in the 200-yard medley relay.
   
McKenzie Murdoch, Williams
(Sophomore - Winnetka, Ill.)
Murdoch won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events during a tri-meet with Tufts and Wesleyan on Saturday, posting season-high scores in the process. Murdoch scored 271.05 on the 1-meter board and posted a total of 306.75 points on the 3-meter board.

Tom Vieth, Williams
(Junior - Louisville, Ky.)
Vieth was victorious in all the events he swam at Amherst on Saturday, taking two individual races and helping his team win the 400-yard freestyle relay. Vieth tied his personal best in breaking the pool record in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:40.69 and also win the 100-yard freestyle in 46.87.
   

Emilie Geissinger, Bates
(Sophomore - Bismarck, N.D.)
Geissinger claimed the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 55.5 seconds during the Bobcats’ meet against Middlebury on Sunday. She also posted season-best marks in the 50-yard freestyle (25.3), the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.2), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.0).

John Armstrong, Williams
(Junior - Gladwyne, Pa.)
Armstrong won both the long-distance freestyle events during a dual meet against Connecticut College this past weekend. His time in the 500-yard freestyle was 4:47.44 while his 1,000-yard freestyle performance was the best so far this season at 9:44.56.
   

Carolyn Geller, Williams
(Senior - Great Neck, N.Y.)
Geller posted strong performances for the Ephs, who won their dual meet with Connecticut College on Saturday. Geller won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.47 and also the 100-yard freestyle in 53.03. She capped the meet by anchoring the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 23.91.

Taylor Hogenkamp, Hamilton
(Junior - East Aurora, N.Y.)
Hogenkamp won three freestyle events and anchored three of the Continentals’ winning freestyle relays at the Cardinal Invitational over the weekend. He posted times of 21.98 in the 50-yard freestyle, 47.25 in the 100 free, and 1:47.05 in the 200-yard freestyle. His time in the 100 free was a meet record.
   

Caroline Wilson, Williams
(Junior - West Hartford, Conn.)
Wilson took home first in three events during a meet against Boston College and Fordham. She posted victories in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.45), the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.58), and the 200-yard IM (2:04.79). Wilson also posted a split of 30.0 in the 200-yard medley relay, as the Ephs’ relay squad finished second.

Drew Berman, Tufts
(Sophomore - Miami, Fla.)
Berman took the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.94) and 200-yard IM (2:01.93) events with personal-best performances during a tri-meet with Middlebury and Connecticut College over the weekend. Against Keene St., Berman won the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.56) and the 200 breaststroke (2:17.03) and was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay squad.
   

Megan Gibbons, Hamilton
(Senior - Clarks Summit, Pa.)
Gibbons set pool records in the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle events during a quad meet at Ithaca this past weekend. Gibbons recorded times of 24.44 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 52.91 seconds in the 100 free, and completed the 200 free in 1:55.61, which was just two seconds off her team record.
