      <title>Williams Softball Assistant Lye Named to Canadian National Team</title>

      <description>WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Joey Lye '09 (Toronto, Ontario), a four-year starter for Williams softball and women's ice hockey teams and current Eph assistant coach in both sports, has been selected to play for the 2010 Canadian National Softball Team. The Canadian Team will be competing in the International Softball Federation World Championships in Caracas, Venezuela, June 24 - July 2. In Caracas the Canadians will be grouped with Cuba, Chinese Taipei, Argentina, Great Britain, Japan, South Africa and The Netherlands. Canada's first opponent will be Cuba on June 24th.</description>

      <description>MEDFORD, Mass. - Senior shortstop Casey Sullivan (Berlin, Conn.) of the Tufts University softball team, who showed her skills to a national audience a year ago when she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the NCAA Softball Championship in New Jersey, added another national honor to her resume when she was recently selected a Second Team All-American by Louisville Slugger and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for 2010.</description>

      <description>WELLESLEY, Mass. - The best season in Bowdoin softball history came to a close on Saturday as the Polar Bears dropped an elimination game to Coast Guard, 5-1, in an NCAA Regional game at Wellesley College. Bowdoin ends their season with a program-record 34 wins against 14 losses, including the school's first NCAA Tournament appearance and victory.</description>

      <description>PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Moravian sophomore pitcher Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ) fired a five-hit shutout with four strikeouts to lead the second-seeded Greyhounds past fourth-seeded Wesleyan, 6-0, in game six at the Providence Regional of the 2010 NCAA Softball Tournament hosted by Rhode Island College. The Cardinals fell to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in an elimination game later in the day, 8-0.</description>

      <title>Bowdoin Stays Alive at NCAA Softball Regional with 14-2 Win Over Husson</title>

      <description>WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Polar Bear bats came alive and sophomore Amy Hackett tied a school record with two home runs and seven RBI to lead the Bowdoin College softball team to their  first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, 14-2, over Husson University on Friday morning. The Polar Bears (34-13) fend off elimination and advance in the loser's bracket of the tourney and will face the winner of Salem State and Endicott on Saturday morning in another elimination game. Husson ends their year with a record of 28-15.</description>

The Cardinals (24-16-1) advance to face second-seeded Moravian College tomorrow at noon. The Cougars (29-16) have a date with top-seeded The College of New Jersey tomorrow at 10 a.m.</description>

The conference's Rookie of the Year in 2007, Sullivan joins a long list of former Jumbos that have earned the league's top honor during their time in Medford, as eight of the last 10 Softball Players of the Year have come from Tufts.</description>

      <description>HADLEY, Mass. - Wesleyan senior RHP/SS Meaghan Dendy (Swansea, Mass.) was selected as NESCAC Player of the Week for May 10, 2010, while Bowdoin junior RHP Kara Nilan (Pittsfield, Mass.) came away as NESCAC Pitcher of the Week. Dendy led the Cardinals during its drive to the 2010 NESCAC Softball Championship, batting .692 (9-for-13) with an on-base percentage of .714 and a slugging mark of .769. Nilan brought the Polar Bears within one win of their first NESCAC Softball Championship this past weekend, as she earned all three of Bowdoin's wins and went 3-1 overall.</description>

      <description>WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Taylor Zavadsky smacked a grand slam home run Sunday in an eight-run third inning for the Cardsinals, leading Wesleyan to a 10-1 win over Bowdoin in the championship game of the 2010 NESCAC Softball Championship. It's the first NESCAC title for the Cardinals, who improved to 23-16-1 with the win. They receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Bowdoin finished its season with a 33-12 record.</description>

The Polar Bears need to defeat Wesleyan twice in order to win the 2010 NESCAC title, while the Cardinals need just one victory.</description>

As of 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the NESCAC Softball Championship at Williams has been pushed back today's first game, originally scheduled for 10:00 a.m., until 3:00 p.m. Game four will likely start at 5:00 p.m. Game five is now scheduled to take place at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. At the NESCAC Baseball Championship, both the Williams-Tufts game at Tufts' Huskins Field and the Bowdoin-Wesleyan game at Bentley's DeFelice Field will take place at 3:30 p.m.</description>

Wesleyan improves to 22-15-1 with the win and advances to the championship game of the tournament against the winner of Bowdoin-Williams Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Bowdoin fell to 31-11 overall. The Polar Bears face Williams at 9:00 a.m. Sunday for a spot in the title game.</description>
