2001 Softball Players of the Week
May 7, 2001
Jodie Moreau, Tufts
(Junior, P - Clarksburg, Mass.)
Moreau won all three games in the NESCAC tournament as Tufts won
the conference title and gained its fifth consecutive NCAA
tournament berth. She allowed just three unearned runs and eight
hits in 20 innings. She threw a one-hitter in a 2-1 win over
Williams in the winners' bracket game on Saturday. She threw a
three-hitter over six innings and allowed one unearned run in
Tufts' 8-2 title game victory over Bowdoin.
April 30, 2001
Randee McArdle, Tufts
(Senior, CF - East Nassau, N.Y.)
McArdle went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Tufts to an 8-0 win over
Bowdoin in the first game of a doubleheader as the Jumbos earned
the right to host the NESCAC tournament. Earlier in the week, she
was 2-for-2 with a double, her sixth home run, and two RBI in a 6-0
win over Brandeis. For the week, she hit .625 (5-for-8) with two
doubles, one home run, and five RBI.
Kristi McDermott,
Trinity
(Sophomore, P - Barrington, R.I.)
McDermott was 2-1 with two shutouts and threw a three-hitter in a
1-0 loss to Williams, yielding one unearned run. Trinity defeated
St. Joseph (CT) 5-0 and Bates 4-0 in the first game of a
doubleheader. In 24 innings, she gave up just 11 hits, one unearned
run, and struck out 23 batters.
April 23, 2001
Katherine Baldwin, Williams
(Sophomore, P - Yantic, Conn.)
Baldwin went 4-0 for the week, not yielding a run or a walk in 19
and one-third innings. She struck out 16 batters to lead Williams
to an undefeated week, including a sweep of Wesleyan.
Jen Mackey,
Tufts
(Junior, SS - Swampscott, Mass.)
Mackey hit .609 (14-for-23) in an 8-1 week for Tufts, scoring 14
runs. She finished 5-for-6 with five runs scored in a doubleheader
sweep of Trinity. In five victories at the Tufts Invitational,
Mackey went 7-for-12 with seven runs scored, including 2-for-4 with
two runs scored and one RBI in a sweep of Colby.
April 16, 2001
Debra Ellen Glickstein, Wesleyan
(Senior, LF - Scarsdale, N.Y.)
Glickstein batted .800 for the week, including a streak of eight
straight hits over three games. She hit two doubles, a triple,
scored three runs, and drove in five runs. Wesleyan won all three
of its games, including a win over Teikyo Post for only the third
time in 16 meetings, and a sweep of Middlebury.
Tiffany Trahan,
Tufts
(Junior, 1B - Chelmsford, Mass.)
Trahan batted .818 for the week with seven runs scored, three RBI,
a double, and her fourth home run of the season. She finished
6-for-8 with four runs scored and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep
of Amherst.
April 9, 2001
Jodie Moreau, Tufts
(Junior, P - Clarksburg, Mass.)
Moreau finished 2-0-1 with a 0.33 earned run average in three
games. She struck out 17 without walking one batter. She yielded
just 12 hits and one earned run, shutting out Wheaton 1-0 and not
allowing a run to Bridgewater State in a 1-1 tie. In conference
play, she threw a four-hitter with seven strikeouts in a win over
Bates.
April 2, 2001
Lauren Peloquin, Amherst
(Junior, P - Berkley, Mass.)
Peloquin threw a complete-game three-hitter in a 3-2 Amherst win
over Clark. She yielded her first earned run of the season and
struck out 10. She has allowed only 19 baserunners in 42 innings
this season, while recording 70 strikeouts and a 6-0 record.
