Six Named All-America by Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association

HADLEY, Mass. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Tuesday its Pocock All-America team for the 2011 season. The CRCA All-America squad, which recognizes the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains at NCAA Division III institutions, honored six individuals from three different NESCAC squads.

On the CRCA All-America First Team were the senior tandem of Rebecca Waldo (Dracut, Mass.) and coxswain Nora Collins (Kensington, Md.) from Bates, Williams senior Adrienne Darrow (Lake Barrington, Ill.), and Trinity senior Sarah Keller (Perrysburg, Ohio). It was the third year in a row that Waldo was recognized by the CRCA, as she was a Second Team All-America in 2009 and a First Team selection in 2010.

On the All-America Second Team were junior Kate Shaper (Thertford Center, Vt.) of Williams, who repeated on the Second Team, and Trinity senior Mina Aiken (Palm Beach, Fla.).

Aiken, Darrow, Keller, Shaper, and Waldo were all honored on the All-NESCAC First Team eariler this month.

The general requirements for nominating a student-athlete for CRCA post season honors are:  the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution; the student-athlete must have participated in at least 75% of all races during the current season; the student-athlete must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat; the student-athlete must be nominated by her institution; the Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.

Selection criteria includes the following:  strength of schedule; regular season record; end of season regatta results; nomination rank; coach's comments; 2,000 meter erg score.
