Williams Wins Seventh NCAA Rowing Title
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Williams College won its sixth
consecutive and seventh NCAA women's rowing title overall on
Saturday at Lake Natoma in California.
The Ephs' first varsity eight won the Grand Final with a time of 6:54.43, while the second varsity eight came in sixth in the six-boat Grand Final in a time of 7:16.56.
Just behind Williams in the Grand Final was Bates, with showing of 7:01.31. The Bobcats finished just over a second ahead of third place Wellesley.
Williams captured the team title with 19 points, followed by Bates (16), Wellesley (14), Ithaca (12), William Smith (9) and Trinity (8).
Trinity won the Petite Final with a time of 7:06.25. Bates' second varsity eight was second in 7:08.22.
By winning the Grand Final, the Williams first varsity eight added the individual title to the team title. The Ephs' first varsity eight featured seniors Anna Soybel, Adrienne Darrow, and Becca Licht, juniors Abbie Deal, Lindsay Olsen, Kate Shaper, and Emma Peligri-O'Day, and sophomores Dana Golden and Annie Haley.
