Bowdoin Downs Vassar 5-0 in NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Bowdoin (12-6) has advanced to the regional final of the NCAA tournament over Vassar (11-9), 5-0. Although the Polar Bears did not lose a match, the doubles matches were highly contested.

Oscar Pena and Jamie Neely took on Mike Mattelson and Jeremy Rosen of Vassar and battled to a tiebreak. Pena and Neely turned up the heat when it counted most, and dominated in the tiebreak, taking the match 9-8(2).

Bowdoin took a win at court two, while at court three, another tight match took place. Alex White and Josh Cranin took a break, and that’s all it took to take the match, 9-7. Pena and White took straight set wins at courts two and four, respectively. Pena defeated Max Willner, 6-4, 6-3, while White dealt Josh Jasso a 6-3, 6-2 loss.

The No. 11 Polar Bears will take on No. 8 Williams College tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. The two teams played in the regular season on April 18. Williams won 6- 3.
