Bowdoin Takes Bates in Men's Tennis First Round

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Bowdoin advanced to the NESCAC semifinals with a 5-0 win over in-state foe Bates. The Polar Bears will take on Trinity Saturday at Middlebury with a 1:30 p.m. start time. After sweepings the doubles matches, Bowdoin need to win just a pair of singles contests to clinch the victory. Garrett Gates was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at #1 over Ben Stein of Bates, while Stephen Sullivan wrapped up the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win at #2 over Amrit Rupasinghe.
