March 4, 2002
Kevin Cooper, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Forward - New Hampton, N.H.)
Cooper scored a hat trick, including the shorthanded gamewinner 7:03 into the third period to lead Middlebury back from a 2-0 deficit to win its third consecutive NESCAC title, 3-2 over Trinity. He also scored the game-winner with 53 seconds remaining in a 4-2 semifinal victory over Colby.

Mike Higgins, Colby
(Senior, Forward - Weymouth, Mass.)
Higgins scored one goal and assisted on two other goals to lead sixthseeded Colby to a 5-1 win at third-seeded Hamilton.

Craig Kennedy, Hamilton
(Freshman, Forward - Pakenham, Ontario)
Kennedy scored three goals and added three assists as Hamilton posted road wins over Colby and Bowdoin to earn the third seed for the NESCAC tournament. He scored two goals and assisted on another goal in a 5-2 win over Colby, and finished with one goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime win over Bowdoin.

Beau Kretzman, Amherst
(Freshman, Forward - Edina, Minn)
Kretzman scored four goals and added three assists in a pair of conference wins over Connecticut College and Tufts. Kretzman leads the conference with 23 goals and 42 points.

Evan Kearns, Colby

(Junior, Forward - Holland, Ohio)
Kearns scored two goals and assisted on four more goals in a 9-0 Colby victory over Saint Michael's.

Brian Shuman, Bowdoin
(Senior, Defenseman - South Boston, Mass.)
Shuman scored two goals, added two assists, and led the defense that limited Trinity and Wesleyan to a combined two goals. The wins kept Bowdoin as the only unbeaten team in NCAA Division III men's hockey.

Jeff Natale, Trinity
(Freshman, Forward - Hamden, Conn)
Natale scored two goals and assisted on another goal as Trinity defeated top-ranked and previously undefeated Norwich 4-1. He also scored two goals in a 3-1 win at Saint Michael's.

Christian Carlsson, Middlebury
(Senior, Goaltender - Linkoping, Sweden)
Carlsson allowed just one goal in three games, leading Middlebury to a 2-0-1 week. In 185 minutes, he made 52 saves and recorded a 0.32 goals against average. His two shutouts gave him 12 for his career, setting the school's modern day record. He lowered his GAA to a conferencebest 1.22 for the season.

Mike Carosi, Bowdoin

(Senior, Forward - Warwick, R.I.)
Carosi, the leading NESCAC scorer, scored four goals and added six assists in four Polar Bear wins. Bowdoin remained undefeated and captured the title in the Salem State Holiday Classic.

Mike Hasenauer, Connecticut College
(Junior, Forward - Weston, Conn.)
Hasenauer recorded two hat tricks in a three-game stretch in a 2-0-1 week for the Camels. He scored three goals and assisted on another goal in a 7-6 win at UMass-Dartmouth and scored three goals, including the game-winner, in a 9-5 victory at New England College.

Christian Carlsson, Middlebury
(Senior, Goaltender - Linkoping, Sweden)
Carlsson made 29 saves as second-ranked Middlebury defeated sixth-ranked Plattsburgh 3-2. The Panthers were outshot 31-15.

Matt Greason, Trinity
(Senior, Forward - North Bridgton, Maine)
Greason took over the conference scoring lead with two goals and six assists for eight points in two Trinity wins. He scored two goals and added four assists in a 10-0 win over UMass-Boston and contributed two assists in a 7-0 victory over Babson.

Mike Carceo, Tufts
(Junior, Forward - Belmont, Mass)
Carceo scored the game-winning goal on a wrap-around at 7:35 of the third period, breaking a 4-4 tie and giving Tufts a 5-4 win over Connecticut College. He also assisted on three goals as the Jumbos broke a four-game losing streak against the Camels.

Pete Hanlon, Connecticut College
(Freshman, Forward - Winthrop, Mass)
Hanlon led the Camels to the Spurrier Tournament championship and moved into the scoring lead in the NESCAC. He scored one goal and added an assist in a 4-1 win over Trinity. He assisted on four goals in a 7-2 championship game win over Wesleyan.

Matt Snyder, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Northbrook, Ill.)
Snyder scored a natural hat trick in the second period of a 7-3 win over Massachusetts College. He finished the game with a school modern day record-tying four goals. He scored one goal and assisted on another in a 6-1 season-opening win at Skidmore.
