2005 NESCAC Golf All-Conference Teams Announced
Trinity's George Boudria Comes Away With NESCAC Player of the Year
HADLEY, Mass. – Spurred by a 2-under par performance on
Sunday (69) at the 2005 NESCAC Golf Championship, Trinity's George
Boudria became the first Bantam linksman to medal at the NESCAC
championship, earning NESCAC Player of the Year honors for his
effort.
While Boudria's play helped his Bantam team to a third place finish at the 2005 NESCAC Golf Championship - the highest finish at the annual event for Trinity - the combined performance of Kevin Kellert and Matthew Slovitt for Williams gave the Ephs their second-straight NESCAC Golf crown. Kellert finished the event in a tie for third with a two-day total of 150, while Slovitt placed in a three-way tie for fifth with 151.
NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors went to Middlebury's Harrison Bane, finishing in second place among the field with a two-day total of 149, only two shy of medalist Boudria.
The 2005 NESCAC Golf All-Conference teams, selected based upon individual finish at the championship, saw a total of seven linksmen make the cut for the First Team. Joining Bane, Boudria, Kellert, and Slovitt on the NESCAC Golf All-Conference First Team were Dave Christie of Hamilton, Sean Jules of Amherst, and Justin Meier of Tufts. Jules, who finished the event in a three-way tie for fifth with a score of 151, is the only holdover from the 2004 First Team. He also received First Team recognition in 2003, his freshman season with the Jeffs golf squad.
Rick Pohle of Williams was named NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers for the second straight year in a row. It is the third time he has received the award since 1999.
