2004 Field Hockey Players of the Week
November 8, 2004
Tara Boyd, Williams
(Senior, Forward - New Caanan, Conn.)
Senior Tara Boyd, despite breaking her nose in the practice prior
to the weekend, scored twice including the game winner in overtime
as Williams upset previously unbeaten Middlebury to claim the
NESCAC field hockey championship. Boyd also assisted on the games
first goal in Williams’ 3-0 semifinal victory over Tufts.
November 1, 2004
Jamie Enos, Colby
(First Year, Goalkeeper - South Hamilton, Mass.)
Colby first-year goalie Jamie Enos made a NESCAC tournament record
15 saves in leading the seventh-seeded Mules to a 1-0 victory over
second seed Bowdoin in a NESCAC first round. Enos kept Colby in a
game which they were out shot by a 20-3 margin. The first year had
seven stops earlier in the week as the Mules took a 4-1 win against
Bates to clinch a playoff spot Saturday. Enos allowed just one goal
over 210 minutes in Colby's 3-0 week.

Louisa Mook, Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Newcastle, Maine)
Senior forward Louisa Mook had two goals and an assist as Wesleyan
defeated Amherst, 4-2, to extend its win streak to seven games.
Mook, who leads the conference in points per game, assisted on the
tying goal in a 2-1 win at Mount Holyoke.

Ashley Lyddane, Middlebury
(Junior, Forward - Greenwich, Conn.)
Ashley Lyddane scored a pair of goals, including the game-tying
goal with 3:06 left in regulation, to lead Middlebury to a 4-3
overtime win at Williams. The win clinched the top spot in the
NESCAC Tournament for the fourth-ranked Panthers, who will host the
event November 6th and 7th on Kohn Field.

Jessica Baker, Trinity
(Senior, Forward - Middlebury, Conn.)
Senior forward Jessica Baker scored twice in the Bantams' 4-2 win
at Connecticut College and scored all three of Trinity's goals in a
3-2 win at Eastern Connecticut including the overtime winner 6:49
into the extra session.

Dana Panzer, Tufts
(Senior, Forward/Midfielder - Sayville, N.Y.)
Panzer figured in all of Tufts' five goals this week as the Jumbos
went 2-0 to improve to 5-2 overall, matching their victory total of
last season. She had two goals and an assist in a 3-0 NESCAC win
over Bates on Saturday. That followed her goal and assist effort in
a 2-0 victory against Babson on Thursday night. Panzer, who hadn't
scored a goal in her collegiate career entering this season, now
has eight with five assists for 21 points in seven games this year.

Kate Leonard, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Goalkeeper - Eliot, Maine)
Bowdoin goalkeeper Kate Leonard stopped eight shots during regular
time and then brushed aside 3 of Williams' 5 penalty strokes in a
2-1 Polar Bear victory on Sunday. Leonard dropped her goals against
average to 0.91 in the victory.

Lauren Smith, Colby
(Senior, Defender - Cohasset, Mass.)
Colby defender Lauren Smith, a senior co-captain, scored the lone
goal and helped the Mules post the shutout with her defensive work
in a 1-0 NESCAC win over Bowdoin Saturday. Smith, who makes the
initial pass on penalty corners for Colby, also helped the Mules to
a 3-0 win against Thomas College on Monday. Smith and the rest of
Colby's defense has allowed no goals in regulation time in three
games and have allowed just one goal in the three contests.

Tara Boyd, Williams
(Senior, Forward - New Canaan, Conn.)
Boyd scored twice in a 4-3 overtime victory over Wesleyan to open
conference play. The senior notched the game’s first goal and
added the game-winner with just under four minutes remaining in
overtime.
