2002 Field Hockey Players of the Week

November 11, 2002
Tori Scott, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Cambridge, Mass.)
Scott scored an overtime game-winner lifting Williams into the championship game. Scott followed on Sunday scoring both Williams goals to defeat Bowdoin for the NESCAC Title.

Wendy Stone, Williams
(Soph., Goalkeeper - Buffalo, N.Y.)
Stone set a NESCAC Championship record with 23 saves in the 2002 Tournament. Stone tied the NESCAC record for saves in a tournament game twice recording 11 saves in a 2-1 overtime semifinal win over Middlebury and 11 more in a 2-1 victory over Bowdoin for the NESCAC Championship.

November 4, 2002
Emily Huffman, Connecticut College
(Junior, Forward - Oklahoma City, Okla.)
Huffman tallied a hat-trick against Middlebury College. The junior All-American netted the game-winning score 1:57 into overtime, ending the Camels 12 game losing streak.

Steff Noering, Williams
(Senior, Forward - Cohasset, Mass.)
Noering scored twice and assisted on another in a 3-0 victory against Amherst in the NESCAC first round. With two goals, Noering became Williams’ all-time leading scorer.

October 28, 2002
Annie McMullin, Amherst
(Freshman, Goalkeeper - St. Louis, Mo.)
McMullin earned a pair of shutouts, combining for nine saves in 1-0 wins over visiting Connecticut College and 19th-ranked Williams. The two wins kept Amherst in the running for a NESCAC playoff berth.

October 21, 2002
Kate Perine, Middlebury
(Senior, Midfielder - Middlebury, Vt.)
Perine exploded for four first half goals in a 9-0 win over Union on Thursday, which she followed with the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Bates.

October 14, 2002
Tori Scott, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Cambridge, Mass.)
Scott scored once and assisted on two goals as Williams defeated Middlebury 3-1 to move into a first-place tie with Bowdoin.

October 7, 2002
Kristen Grabowski, Trinity
(Junior, Forward - Burlington, Conn.)
Grabowski scored Trinity's game-tying goal in a 2-1 overtime triumph at Connecticut College for Trinity's first win and scored the only Bantam goal in a 2-1 loss against nationally-ranked Springfield that went into penalty strokes.

September 30, 2002
Leah McClure, Bowdoin
(Senior, Forward - Rothesay, New Brunswick)
The senior forward was the key to back-to-back Bowdoin victories over NESCAC rivals Amherst and Middlebury scoring both of the games' goals in 2-0 win over the Lord Jeffs and twice more against the Panthers, including the game-winner in a 3-2 decision.

September 23, 2002
Gillian McDonald, Bowdoin
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Hudson, Quebec)
McDonald made 25 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping all three of Williams' penalty shot opportunities in the penalty stroke round as Bowdoin took a 1-0 victory over the Ephs on Saturday. McDonald collected her fourth shutout of the season and 19th of her career, and currently stands one shy of the school mark for career shutouts (20).

Wendy Bonner, Colby
(Sophomore, Forward - Lexington, Mass.)
Bonner had all the offense for the Mules this week in pair of single goal victories over Plymouth State and Trinity as Colby improved to 4-0. The sophomore’s first half goal against Plymouth State stood up in a 1-0 victory on Thursday and her goal 6:17 into overtime on Saturday at Trinity was the games only score.

September 16, 2002
Lindsay Wasserman, Wesleyan
(Senior, Goalkeeper - Branford, Conn.)
Wasserman recorded 20 saves in a pair of 3-1 defeats of Mount Holyoke and Bowdoin including a denial of a penalty stroke in the first half against Bowdoin with Wesleyan leading 2-1.
