MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan's Melissa Courtemanche received a pass on the right side from Sonya Behnke after a corner hit by Jenna Flateman and fired a 12-yard shot inside the right post for the game-winner eight minutes into overtime to defeat Colby 2-1 and advance in the NESCAC Field Hockey Championship.
It was Courtemanche's team-leading 10th goal of the year. She also assisted on Wesleyan first goal, scored by Laura Pfeiffenberger from eight yards out in the middle of the circle after receiving Courtemanche's cross just 3:10 into the game. The lead held up for almost 62 minutes before Colby's Lindsay Peters converted a pass from the right side by Wendy Bonner into the equalizer with her knock-in from in close with 5:29 to go in regulation.
