Offensive Player of the Week 

Remi Ashkar, Middlebury
(Junior, RB - Glen Rock, N.J.)
Ashkar scored two touchdowns on the ground, both in the fourth quarter, as the Panthers rallied from a 10-0 deficit after three periods at Tufts to win 19-17. Ashkar ran for 105 yards on 23 carries (4.57 per carry) with a long of 15 yards and also caught eight passes for 23 yards in the game. He scored on a two-yard run three seconds into the fourth quarter, Middlebury’s first points of the game, and ran in the game-winning touchdown from one yard out with two seconds remaining.

   

Defensive Co-Players of the Week

Kevin Ferber, Amherst
(Senior, DL - Mahwan, N.J.)
Ferber made eight tackles (seven solo), four of which were sacks for a combined loss of 27 yards, during a 31-18 win at Williams on Saturday that gave the Lord Jeffs an 8-0 mark on the year. Ferber also recovered a fumble in the end zone to open the scoring in the second half. He was a part of a defense that stopped the Ephs on four fourth-down chances and held them to a pair of field goals in the first half. Ferber finished the year with a program-record 11 sacks.

 

Tom Finnucan, Trinity
(Senior, NT - Orange, Conn.)
Finnucan made a team-high 13 tackles (three solo), recording four tackles for a loss of 16 yards and two sacks for a loss of seven, during the Bantams’ 27-0 victory over Wesleyan, Trinity’s fourth shutout of the year. The Bantam defense held the Cardinals to 107 yards of total offense and just 33 yards in the second half. He also forced and recovered a fumble in the game and blocked a field goal.

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Jimmy Garvey, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, K - Lancaster, Mass.)
Garvey kicked a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter, his only attempt of the day, to give the Polar Bears a 13-3 lead and, on the ensuing kickoff, lofted a perfectly-placed pooch kick that caught the Mules off guard and allowed his team to recover the ball at the Colby 36. The recovery led to a touchdown and a 20-3 lead as Bowdoin went on to win 20-10.

Offensive Player of the Week 

Eric Bunker, Amherst
(Senior, RB - Topsfield, Mass.)
Bunker led the charge against a Trinity defense that had not allowed over 100 rushing yards over its last 16 games as he racked up 111 yards over 16 carries (6.9 yards per carry) and two touchdowns while also catching a game-high six passes for 47 yards in a 35-28 Amherst win. The Lord Jeffs finished with 146 rushing yards. Bunker’s nine-yard touchdown run gave Amherst a 21-0 lead heading into the half, while his second-half 75-yard scamper proved to be the difference in the game. He tied the single-season program record for TDs with the run (11).

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Dan O’Mara, Williams
(Senior, DB - Pittsburgh, Pa.)
O’Mara had a game-high 11 tackles (five solo), a pass break-up, and intercepted a pass for the third game in a row in the Ephs’ fourth consecutive victory, a 19-17 win at Wesleyan on Saturday. His conference-leading fourth pick of the year could not have come at a better time, as he intercepted a pass at the Wesleyan 40-yard line during the Cardinals’ final drive of the game to preserve the two-point victory, returning the pick eight yards.

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Jesse Warren, Wesleyan
(Freshman, P - Chicopee, Mass.)
Warren punted six times in the Cardinals’ hard-fought 19-17 loss to Williams on Saturday, averaging an impressive 46.3 yards per punt. He placed four of his six punts inside the Ephs’ 20-yard line, three of which were downed inside the 10-yard line. Warren’s longest boot of the day went for 60 yards.

Offensive Player of the Week 

Connor Walsh, Colby
(Senior, WR - Westwood, Mass.)
Walsh was part of three touchdowns for the Mules during a 37-13 victory over Bates on Saturday. He tossed a 26-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give Colby a 16-6 lead at the half. Walsh also had a 64-yard touchdown reception also in the second quarter, and ran in a score from one yard out in the third quarter. He finished the day with four receptions for 104 yards. The touchdown pass was his second toss for a score this season (2-for-2).

   

Defensive Co-Players of the Week

Mark Snyder, Trinity
(Senior, ILB - Rockaway, N.J.)
Snyder recorded a game-high 10 stops (six solo), broke up a pass, had a half-tackle for a loss, and recovered a fumble on a punt return that gave the Bantams the ball deep in Middlebury territory during Trinity’s 42-7 victory over Middlebury. The Bantams held the league’s top offense to just 194 yards of total offense and 50 rushing yards.

   
Chris Cameron, Williams
(Junior, LB - Walpole, Mass.)
Cameron had seven tackles (six solo), including two tackles for a combined loss of 16 yards, a sack for a loss of 12 yards, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the Ephs’ 14-7 victory over Hamilton on Saturday. Cameron’s fumble recovery with 55 seconds remaining in Continental territory sealed the win for Williams.
   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Pat Noone, Bowdoin
(Senior, PR - North Attleboro, Mass.)
Noone returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown - the longest return in Whittier Field history - and it proved to be the difference in the Polar Bears’ 12-6 win over Wesleyan on Saturday. Holding a 6-0 advantage midway through the third quarter, Noone took the ball on one bounce deep in Bowdoin territory and returned it for the game-winning score. He finished the game with three returns for 91 yards and a kickoff return of 23 yards.

Offensive Player of the Week 

McCallum Foote, Middlebury
(Sophomore, QB - Newton, Mass.)
Foote tossed five touchdowns in a 49-43 victory at Bates on Saturday. He threw touchdown passes to three different receivers with his longest scoring strike going for 32 yards. Foote finished the game 39-of-53 (.736) for 412 yards with an efficiency rating of 166.24 (one interception). During the seven-play, 60-yard game-winning drive that began with 1:16 left to play, Foote went 5-for-7 for 45 yards, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Nick Resor.

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Ryan Veillette, Colby
(Junior, DE - Westfield, Mass.)
Veillette tied for the team lead in tackles during a 13-7 victory at Hamilton on Saturday, making 10 stops (three solo) as part of a defense that allowed just four rushing yards. He also forced a fumble and recorded 2.5 sacks for a combined loss of 19 yards. During the final drive of the game, Veillette shared a sack with Shayne Begin on 2nd-and-3 that pushed Hamilton back from the Colby 33 to the 45-yard line with 25 seconds remaining. The Continentals would not gain another yard in the game.

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Darren Hartwell, Williams
(Junior, KR/PR/WR - North Reading, Mass.)
Hartwell racked up 229 all-purpose yards as he amassed 94 yards over four punt returns, 74 yards during three kickoff returns, and 61 yards receiving over four catches during the Ephs’ 38-17 victory over Tufts on Saturday. Hartwell set the program record with the longest punt return for a touchdown with a 77-yard return that broke a 14-all tie in the second quarter. His long kick return went for 34 yards, and he also had a touchdown reception of 33 yards.

Offensive Player of the Week 

LaDarius Drew, Wesleyan
(Freshman, RB - Mesquite, Texas)
Drew scored all three of the Cardinals’ touchdowns during a 21-14 victory over Bates on Saturday. He carried the ball 26 times for 162 yards (6.23 yards per carry) as he surpassed 100 rushing yards for the third game in a row. After being held to 24 yards on nine attempts in a scoreless first half, Drew exploded for 138 yards on 17 carries (8.12 per carry) in the second half with touchdown runs of three, five, and 90 yards. His 90-yard run, which put Wesleyan ahead 21-0 with 10:58 to play, was just four yards shy of the program record for a rushing TD.

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Walter Fallas, Trinity
(Senior, ILB - Everett, Mass.)
Fallas made a team-high 12 tackles (six solo) and added two sacks for a combined loss of 18 yards as he led the Bantams to their second-straight shutout of the season, a 9-0 victory at Tufts on Saturday. Fallas and the Trinity defense held the Jumbos to just 146 total yards and 13 rushing yards on 26 carries.

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Josh Hurwitz, Wesleyan
(Freshman, P - Longmeadow, Mass.)
In his first action of the year punting for the Cardinals, Hurwitz had eight kicks for an average of 37.6 yards with a long boot of 48 during Wesleyan’s 21-14 victory over Bates on Saturday. Two of his punts landed inside the Bobcats’ 20-yard line, including a 36-yard kick with 1:02 left to play that pinned Bates at its own one-yard line.

Offensive Player of the Week 

Eric Bunker, Amherst
(Senior, RB - Topsfield, Mass.)
Bunker scored a career-high four touchdowns as he ran for 130 yards on 19 carries (6.8 per carry) during a 48-28 victory over Middlebury on Saturday. Bunker scored three of his touchdowns in the final five minutes of the second quarter to help shift momentum in Amherst’s favor, and he was also responsible for the only score of the fourth. He also surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for his career in the win.

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Joey Cleary, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, LB - Winchester, Mass.)
Cleary had seven tackles (six solo), a sack for a loss of nine yards, two tackles for a loss, a pass break-up, and an interception that he returned 99 yards for a touchdown as the Polar Bear defense surrendered the fewest points since 2008 in a 27-6 decision over Tufts on Saturday. Scoreless in the second quarter, Cleary put Bowdoin on the board when he picked off a pass at his own one-yard line and sprinted straight down the right sideline. It was the first of two interceptions returned by the Bowdoin defense for touchdowns.

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Matt Rawson, Amherst
(Senior, P/K - Bethesda, Md.)
Rawson was flawless in his kicking attempts on Saturday in a 48-28 victory over Middlebury, going 2-for-2 on field goals (24, 30) and 6-for-6 on PAT attempts. He also punted the ball eight times for an average of 44.1 yards with a long of 51 and landed half inside the 20-yard line. Rawson became the Lord Jeffs’ all-time leader in made field goals during the game, as he now has 23 during his tenure at Amherst. Rawson is now 10-for-10 on PAT attempts and 6-for-7 on field goals this season.

Offensive Player of the Week 

McCallum Foote, Middlebury
(Sophomore, QB - Newton, Mass.)
Foote led the Panthers to a 41-15 win over Colby on Saturday afternoon, tossing four touchdowns and compiling 391 yards through the air. He finished the day completing 27-of-43 passes (.628) with a long of 52 yards, as he found seven different receivers throughout the game. Foote recorded an efficiency rating of 166.18 and was not sacked at all during the victory.

 

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Brett McAllister, Bates
(Senior, OLB - Exeter, N.H.)
McAllister had two interceptions, two sacks for a combined loss of nine yards, two pass break-ups, and five tackles (four solo) during the Bobcats’ first win of the year, a 28-9 victory over Tufts on Saturday. McAllister keyed a Bates defensive unit that held Tufts to 18 rushing yards on 25 carries, sacked the quarterback six times, and totaled four interceptions, as the Bobcats were +4 in the turnover department.

 

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Patrick George, Bates
(Junior, RB - Gloucester, Mass.)
George returned two kickoffs for 55 yards with a long return of 32 yards and helped his Bobcat squad with a two-point conversion late in the second quarter during a 28-9 win against Tufts on Saturday. He also posted a career-high 84 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.2 per carry) with one touchdown.

Offensive Player of the Week 

Jordan Eck, Hamilton
(Junior, Quarterback - Rye, N.Y.)
Eck led the Continentals to their first season-opening win since 1992, completing 29-of-33 passes (.879) for 260 yards in a 24-16 win over Tufts on Saturday. Eck tossed two touchdowns and ran for a third to open the scoring in the game. He did not throw an interception all day (174.06 efficiency). Hamilton defeated Tufts for the first time since 1991.

 

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Mike Aldo, Amherst
(Junior, OLB - Mansfield, Mass.)
Aldo was a presence on defense throughout the Lord Jeffs’ 20-7 win at Bates on Saturday. Aldo recorded seven tackles (five solo) with three sacks for a combined loss of 17 yards. He blocked a punt on the game’s opening drive which gave Amherst the ball at the Bates’ 35 and led to the game’s first score, a touchdown. In addition, Aldo forced two fumbles that Amherst cashed in on for a combined 10 points.

 

   

Special Teams Player of the Week 

Zach Driscoll, Middlebury
(Junior, P - Concord, Mass.)
In his first game as the Panthers’ full-time punter, Driscoll booted eight balls for an average of 34.6 yards during Saturday’s 16-15 setback at Wesleyan. He finished the day with a long of 49 yards and placed four kicks inside the Cardinals’ 20-yard line.
