MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan junior outfielder Julian Sonnenfeld (Aberdeen, N.J.) has been honored on the 2010 ESPN the Magazine Baseball Academic All-America squad presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sonnenfeld, a two-time District I Academic All-America selection, garnered Third Team honors, as he was the only NESCAC player recognized on the national team.

One of five individuals from District I to make the College Division Academic All-America team, Sonnenfeld is a Biology (Pre Med) major at Wesleyan with a 3.94 grade point average.

Sonnenfeld was one of four individuals on this year’s NESCAC All-Conference First Team that was a member of the Second Team a year ago. Among the top players in the conference in multiple offensive categories, Sonnenfeld headed up the Cardinal offense with a personal-best .418 average along with a league-leading .543 on-base percentage and a .784 slugging mark (3rd NESCAC) while starting all 36 games. Sonnenfeld hit a conference-best and program-record 25 doubles this spring, as his 56 hits gave him 131 through three seasons and put him 58 shy of the all-time Wesleyan lead.

Wesleyan made its second consecutive and fourth overall appearance in the NESCAC Baseball Championship this spring.
