May 29, 2008 2008 NESCAC Spring All-Academic Selections Announced
HADLEY, Mass. - The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its 2007-08 Spring All-Academic selections today, with a record 467 student-athletes that participated in a spring sport earning All-Academic recognition. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution.
May 22, 2008 NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Selections Announced
HADLEY, Mass. - The New England Small College Athletic Conference has announced the Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
HADLEY, Mass. - Tufts senior infielder Steve Ragonese (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) has been selected by the conference coaches as the 2008 NESCAC Player of the Year. Ragonese helped the Jumbos earn a 19-15 record this season along with the programs fourth-consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Baseball Championship. He is the first player from Tufts to receive the leagues top honor since Dan Callahan won the award in 2001.
HADLEY, Mass. - Tufts sophomore first baseman Christy Tinker (Woodbridge, Conn.) has been selected by the conference coaches as the 2008 NESCAC Player of the Year. Tinker is part of a Jumbos squad that went 11-1 in the NESCAC East Division this season along with capturing the 2008 NESCAC Softball Championship, the second-straight NESCAC title for Tufts and fifth in program history. Tinker becomes the seventh player from Tufts to receive the leagues top honor in the last eight years.
HADLEY, Mass. - Middlebury junior midfielder Mike Stone (Boston, Mass.) has been named the 2008 NESCAC Player of the Year, as determined by the conference coaches. Stone has helped the Panthers record a 12-2 record this season along with an 11th-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Mens Lacrosse Tournament. He becomes the first Middlebury player to earn the conferences top award since Matt Dunn received the honor in 2002.
