HADLEY, Mass. - Connecticut College freshman forward Demetrius Porter (Virginia Beach, Va.) received NESCAC Player of the Week honors for Jan. 5, 2009. Porter averaged 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the Washington & Lee Classic over the weekend, as the Camels went 1-1. He shot an even .500 from the floor (13-for-26) over the weekend.
HADLEY, Mass. - Williams senior guard Mika Peterman (Los Altos, Calif.) earned NESCAC Player of the Week for Jan. 5, 2009. In a 3-1 week for the Ephs, Peterman averaged 18.8 points per game on 27-of-47 shooting (.574). Peterman was named the MVP of the Williams Winter Classic, averaging 21.0 points per game during the two victories as she hit 10-of-14 three-point attempts (.714).
HADLEY, Mass. - Trinity freshman defenseman Michael DeMayo (Seaford, N.Y.) was named NESCAC Player of the Week for Jan. 5, 2009. DeMayo was named MVP of the Assumption Holiday Tournament after scoring three goals over two games and leading the Bantams to the tournament title. DeMayo is second for Trinity in scoring with eight points with a team-high six goals and two assists.

HADLEY, Mass. - Colby senior goaltender Shelley Payne (Pelham, N.Y.) came away as the NESCAC Player of the Week for Jan. 5, 2009. Payne was named Tournament MVP at the St. Michaels Holiday Tournament over the weekend, allowing no goals and making 41 saves during a pair of Colby victories. On Friday against Nichols, Payne turned aside 25 shots, including 12 in the final frame, to earn her first collegiate shutout and give the Mules a 4-0 win.
WACO, Texas - Williams senior offensive tackle John Szawlowski (Hatfield, Mass.) had earned All-America honors by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), it was announced on Wednesday. Szawlowski is the only NESCAC player to receive All-America recognition this season. He is the first Eph since LB Graham Goldwasser in 2003 to garner All-America.
